This chest requires over 300 pieces and over 100 different operations to construct and finish. Each part is meticulously hand fitted for the most exacting fit possible. Hardwoods naturally retain some moisture and can expand and contract slightly with seasonal temperatures – the Gerstner craftsmen have taken this into consideration and all parts are fitted accordingly to allow for this natural occurrence while taking into account regional & seasonal differences that may affect this process as well. Every Gerstner USA built chest has a hand rubbed lacquer finish. All chests go through 3 final finishing stages. At each stage the lacquer finish is hand rubbed to give a lasting beauty and protection to the selected hardwoods. This chest is made with natural walnut, and is in very fine condition!
