Concept Art Gallery was established in 1972. Since that date the Gallery has presented wide ranging exhibitions on subjects from Contemporary Art Glass to 19th Century European Paintings. The Gallery represents many of the regions most established artists along with artists of national and international reputation. There is an emphasis on Contemporary Realist painting and historic and industrial images of Pittsburgh.
Concept Art Gallery is an active participant in secondary market sales. Over the past year the gallery has brokered sales of a major Gerhard Richter painting, Barbara Hepworth sculpture, Martin Kippenberger lamp and a Patrick Herron painting.
The gallery has been shaping the market in historic regional painters including George Hetzel, Roy Hilton, Aaron Gorson, Samuel Rosenberg, and Henry Koerner through its Fine Art and Antique auctions, held twice a year.
Photographers Luke Swank, Selden Davis and Orlando Romig are an important regional specialty for the gallery. We also inventory Contemporary prints by well known American and European Artists, including Brice Marden, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Robert Ryman, Corneille, Wolf Kahn, Vija Celmans and many others.
Gallery owner and director Sam Berkovitz is a licensed auctioneer and a certified member of the Appraisers Association of America. He consults to numerous area collectors, foundations and museums, including: The Carnegie Museum of Art, The Warhol Museum, The Westmoreland Museum of Art and the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art.
The Gallery offers in-house insured archival framing services, accompanied by a vast selection of moldings. Our framing staff collectively share 50 years of experience handling fine art.
Concept Art Gallery works closely with a wide variety of clientele; the first time art buyer, corporate and institutional customers, and serious collectors are all welcome in the renovated two-story gallery space.
Concept Art Gallery is located in the Regent Square neighborhood of Pittsburgh and is easily accessed from major highways. It is also conveniently located near The Carnegie Museum of Art and The Frick Art Museum and Historical Center.
