SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS: 22 Ways to Say Black
One Year ago, Swarovski asked 22 of fashion 's leading designers and most promising rising talents to create one very special black dress each incorporating SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, the standard-bearer of precision-cut crystal since 1895. A Black dress, because, throughout the modern era, it is the one item a woman’s wardrobe is considered deficient without. The "little black dress " as it has come to be called, has become one of fashion 's greatest ideals and the designers who created the dresses in this book have each, in their own way, explored its possibilities of form, function, mood and adornment. Whether by Giorgio Armani, Vivienne Westwood, Alexis Mabille, Thakoon, Lavin’s Alber Elbaz, or Jean Paul Gaultier, each of these dresses represents a singular vision of a fashion archetype, executed by a master of their craft.
Swarovski, partnered with Phillips de Pury & Company, is offering these unique pieces up in a way they can do the most good. This September, all 22 dresses will be sold at auction to benefit the American Cancer Society and la Ligue nationale contre le cancer in France. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to these two charities.
And so we present 22 Ways to Say Black.
