Ewbank Auctioneers are Surrey's Premier Antique and Fine Art Auction Rooms. We are members of the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers. Chris Ewbank is also a Chartered Arts and Antiques Surveyor. We hold regular antiques and fine art auctions and provide valuations for sale, probate and insurance. EWBANK FINE ART AUCTIONEERS Chris Ewbank came to Guildford in 1982 and founded Ewbank Fine Art Auctioneers in 1990. In 1994, having held auctions at a local hotel, Ewbank Auctioneers acquired their present auction rooms at Burnt Common. An attraction of the property is it's situated in a prominent out-of-town location just off the A3, about 4 miles from Guildford with acres of parking. We are less than ten minutes away from junction 10 of the M25, and Woking main line station is 4 miles with frequent train services to Waterloo (25 minutes). Ewbank Auctioneers has grown from humble beginnings, holding six sales a year, to the position that we hold today, with our own salerooms and some thirty sales a year. Turnover since 1990 has increased by over twelve times. Recent building refurbishments include a new mezzanine floor that doubles existing floor space with a second saleroom, new entrance, offices, new heating and air-conditioning system and external face-lift have given us both additional floor space and enhanced facilities. Throughout our time in Guildford, we have had the privilege of advising thousands of clients on the valuation and sale of antiques and fine art and have conducted well in excess of 500 auctions and we now operate the premier auction rooms in Surrey. If they are to succeed, businesses like ours must give clients and buyers an efficient and friendly service and, over the years, we have always tried to maintain the highest standards, adhering to the principles of probity and ethics of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers, of which we are members. Most of our new clients come to us on recommendation, from professional advisers or existing clients. As the costs of selling by auction in central London have rocketed we have benefited from the general trend in recent years for more important items to be sold outside the capital. This was illustrated in 2007 when we sold the Robertson Collection of items from the Studio of Francis Bacon. The sale created enormous worldwide interest and achieved a total of over £1M. View fully illustrated catalogs and register to bid absentee or live via the Internet as the sales are taking place by logging on to www.LiveAuctioneers.com. Chris Ewbank has taken a very active part in the leadership of the profession within the UK. He has been a member of the Fine Arts Advisory Panel of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and was Chairman of its Art and Antiques Faculty Board. He was also for six years an elected member of its International Governing Council (the highest decision making body in the Institution). He joined the Committee of the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers & Valuers in 1994, (he first became a member in 1982), and was chairman from 2000-2006. He was reelected on to its executive committee in 2013 and he has also in recent years been on the executive committee of the British Art Market Federation and was one of the first to join the new City of London Livery Company of Arts Scholars.

The photos didn't show a bad cut in the grille material which massively affects the value but when I pointed this out, they apologised and offered an acceptable discount in a very professional manner. Unlike another well known auction house recently......

Pictures were of another item.
Item pictured was not the same as described. I generally am very satisfied with their services. And even with this past issue, they were communicative and very professional. I had to cancel the order because it wasn’t what I saw in the picture. I even sent over a screenshot to show what I saw on my end. Great company. One small problem. Would still definitely do business with them again.

Very poor customer service. I received 4 different invoices with 4 different totals to pay. I then had information that said the item I bought wasnt authentic. Contacting Ewbanks to find out what the process was for challenging authenticity I was met with harsh responses that said the issue was mine and they had no responsibility. I wont purchase anything again from Ewbanks.
