Lovely Poem Written by Louisa Adams, Wife of John Quincy Adams

LOUISA CATHERINE ADAMS, First Lady of John Quincy Adams.
Autograph Manuscript Signed "Louisa Catherine Adams", in brown ink, on 9.5” x 7.75” paper, dated March 7, 1849, Washington, Very Fine. A six line poem by the wife of John Quincy Adams, Louisa (1775-1852), which reads in full: "He that no more may say, is list'ned more / than they whom youth and ease have taught to glose; / More are men's ends mark'd, than their lives before; / The setting Sun, and music at the close -- / As the last tastes of sweets, is sweetest last; / Writ in remembrance, more than things long past." Light horizontal crease well below text of poem. Perfect for display, a lovely example.
