Custer: “Tenting on the Plains: Or General Custer in Kansas and Texas,” 1889, Published by Charles L. Webster & Co., New York, Early Edition, original pictorial cloth lettered in gilt, 702 pages, 9.25” x 6.5”, Very Fine. Luther 5. This biography, lovingly written by his wife, deals with General Custer’s experiences from the end of the Civil War to 1867. Illustrated with drawings by Frederic Remington, A. Berghaus and others, plus a few photographs, engravings, maps, etc. Front pages signed by previous owners. Recased, rather tight, taped hinges, rubbed, corners worn, paper repairs to the half-title, scattered minor stains, else in excellent condition. The illustrations and the stories are first-rate!
