FIRST LADIES Eclectic Ephemera Group.
Three items from the personal album of J. Watson Webb, Jr., President of the Shelburne Museum in Vermont.
1. Includes Engraved Invitation Kit (three cardsÑ3.75” x 5”, 2” x 4”, and 2” x 3.5”Ñ and accompanying envelopeÑ 4” x 5.25”) to visit the White House for a “Small Dance” hosted by Mrs. Roosevelt, December 30, 1937. Mounting remnants on verso of two cards, overall fine.
2. Also, Typed Letter Signed, “Lady Bird Johnson” in brown felt marker, with extensive manuscript postscript, 10.5” x 7” on her Stonewall, Texas lettersheet with an illustration of the L.B.J. Ranch, dated October 25, 1973, Very Fine. A thank you letter for a tour of the Shelburne. Comes with 11” x 7.5” album page with a 3.5” x 4.5” color snapshot of Watson walking with Lady Bird and 4” x 7.5” transmittal envelope. The upper left corner of the album page has been torn off; letter, envelope and photo are unaffected.
3. Also, an Engraved Invitation, 5” x 5.75”, to honor Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson along with the Governors of Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire at a dinner in Vermont, June 9, 1967.
