Rare Invitation to JFK’s Reception Dinner in Texas, November 22, 1963 -- The Day of the Assassination
(JOHN F. KENNEDY).
Printed invitation to the dinner welcoming JFK and LBJ to Texas on the day he was assassinated, November 22, 1963, Municipal Auditorium, Austin, TX, 8” x 6”, Choice Extremely Fine. The dinner was never held because JFK was shot down earlier that day while riding in a motorcade through Dallas, Texas. Extremely rare invitation, printed in fancy script font, hosted by the State Democratic Executive Committee, evenly toned, with one horizontal fold along the center, one small edge chip at the top:
“In honor of President John F. Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson / The State Democratic Executive Committee requests the pleasure of your company at the Texas Welcome Dinner on Friday evening the twenty-second of November / One thousand nine hundred and sixty-three / at half after seven o’clock at the Municipal Auditorium in the City of Austin / Mr. Eugene M. Locke, Chairman / Mrs. Alfred Negley, Vice-Chairman / Mr. Frank C. Erwin, Jr., Secretary.”
