Civil War Union Envelopes“E Pluribus Unum” Covers
c. 1865, Patriotic Covers Collection including “Our Army and Navy Forever,” Lot of 5, Choice Very Fine+.
Each cover measures approximately 3” x 5.25”, and feature slogans or patriotic imagery printed in red and blue. Each cover is postmarked, with three-cent stamps, sent to Vermont, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. The listed slogans include: “Our Army and Navy Forever,” “The FLAG of our Country----May it Wave Forever,” and “Imitate Him! Be A Patriot!” The envelope with the phrase “Imitate Him!” features George Washington on a horse. The two covers without phrases have an image of Lady Liberty on one and a heraldic eagle with shield advocating “E Pluribus Unum” on the other. All of the envelopes are in very fine condition and are beautiful specimens.
