1890 Photograph of An Indian School.
Black and white 6” x 8” Photograph on an 8” x 10” mount, 1890, no place (Indian Territory, future state of Oklahoma?). The photo shows six children, three boys and three girls, dressed up and posing for the camera. Ink notation on mount says, “Sac & Fox Indian School 1890.” The great athlete Jim Thorpe was of predominantly Sauk and Fox descent. The mount is soiled and stained and uneven at left margin; the image is in Very Fine condition.
