this finely molded paper mache and beautifully polychromed recumbent camel doubles as a 8 piece skittle holder and a pull toy rolling on 4 cast iron wheels, an imposing figure with highly detailed blanketing: he carries in his back 8 painted paper mache Arabs on wood bases ready for dismounting to be used as bowling pins, among the figures are 2 different styles including 4 similarly posed Blackamoors and 4 bearded men holding pipes; a very nice example of a scarce skittle toy - quality of molding and paint indicates German manufacture, circa 1900; 19" l.
