Apollo 13 Special Effects Space Module

This special effects miniature was used in the 1995 space adventure "Apollo 13" starring Tom Hanks. It was most likely used for far off shots. Using the word "miniature" in a loose sense, this unit is approximately 5 feet tall and weighs approximately 600 pounds! The upper part of the model has plastic panels, tiny wire antennas, a disc shaped pan at the very top and two small triangle windows that show an unfinished control center inside. The bottom part is covered with gold and black metallic paper. The piece is in fair condition and needs repairing. Several of the support beams are either loose or missing and several silver globes mounted on the outside to simulate lights are missing.
