Sally Field wore this headpiece (one of several used throughout the series) in the 1967-70 television comedy series THE FLYING NUN. Sally Field plays Sister Bertrille, the kind hearted but meddling nun who realizes she can fly due to her small size, large headgear and atmospheric conditions. The headpiece with its endearing side flaps is made of an off-white material hand stitched over stiff board or styrene. On the inside is attached a small, cotton-lined cap to help balance the hat. The inside tag reads: Berman Costume Company, Hollywood, Calif. Sally Field's name is handwritten on the tag. A still from the show of Sally Field wearing the headpiece is included in the lot. (The photo may not depict this actual headpiece since several were used throughout the series filming). The hat measures 29 inches wide, 15 ½ inches deep with a 7 ½ inch overall height. All sizes are approximate. This costume piece is from the collection of Debbie Reynolds and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Ms. Reynolds. Proceeds from this sale go to benefit The Hollywood Motion Picture Museum. Presented in association with JulienEntertainment.com
