Rita Hayworth Suit from Gilda

Rita Hayworth as Gilda wore this black satin suit for her marriage ceremony to Johnny (Glenn Ford) in the 1946 film-noir classic GILDA. This memorable role showcases Rita at her sexiest and most alluring. The suit consists of a jacket, skirt and belt. The fitted jacket flares slightly below the waist and has a small collar on a low cut neckline with three covered buttons down the front. The piece has two front pockets and long sleeves with turn-up cuffs. The below the knee fitted skirt has no waistband or zipper, but may have been sewn on the spot to fit. It has a pleat on the lower left side. The black satin and leather belt measures approximately 27 inches. An image showing the piece in use in the film also comes with the lot. The jacket measures 33 inches at the chest and 24 inches at the waist with a length from collar to hem of 23 inches. The skirt measures approximately 24 inches at the waist with a length of 29 inches. All sizes are approximate. This costume is from the collection of Debbie Reynolds and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Ms. Reynolds. Proceeds from this sale go to benefit The Hollywood Motion Picture Museum.
