Ethel Merman Dress from The Love Boat

Ethel Merman wore this Mexican dress and hat, designed by Nolan Miller, in a large musical number in "The Love Boat" television series. The long sleeved, black velvet dress has a full skirt, with a black tulle slip underneath and rhinestones, mirrors, and large stylized flowers accent the skirt and sleeves. A red and green cloth stole decorated with multi-colored sequins and mirrors snaps at the back of the shoulders. The dress measures 28 in. at the waist, 36 in. at the torso, has a 21 in. long sleeve and measures 41 in. from the waist to the hem. The sombrero has a stiff brim decorated on the top with silver mirrors, mylar and string and on the underside with sequined matching flowers. The overall size of the hat is 23 in. in diameter. All measurements are approximate. Included is a photocopy of the costume in use. A certificate of authenticity comes with the lot. The dress is in good condition except that some of the many, diamond shaped mirrors have lost their silver backing. Presented in association with JulienEntertainment.com
