American, late 19th century, spring-loaded with bell and key-wind mechanisms with pivoting and painted head of black man, circular cast iron tripod platform (when center of target is hit, bell rings and head pivots), marked on back "W. Wurfflein…for 22 Cartridge/40", 3-1/2 x 19-1/4 in. (with head extended), key-wind mechanism and bell in working order, scratches and wear to head, cast iron with scattered light chips (possibly repainted), with replacement key, pivot mechanism not working Provenance: Private Collection, Morehead City, North Carolina
