Wife of signer of the Declaration of Independence Elbridge Gerry (1744-1814). ALS, 1p, Oct 3, 1832, 4to, New London, interesting content re getting money that she feels are due her after the death of her husband. In part, "...Upon Mature deliberation, I have been induced to determine on an application to Congress, by a claim...as the Widow of Mr Gerry, for the remainder of his Salary, as Vice President, from his Death, to the end of the term of his Election. I think at present of applying to J[ohn] Q[uincy] Adams for his advice, & assistance...depending upon the long friendship that existed between our families...relying on his Judgement, & influence, in the House...Pray give me your opinion..." Couple of marginal fold tears and light toning, o/w VG.
