Signer of Declaration of Independence. DS, "W Hooper Atto", as an attorney, 1p, Sept 5, 1770, 7"X3." Signed on verso, signifing his acceptance of a ruling on a theft case heard before the "Superior Court of Justice begun and held at the Court House in the Town of Salisbury...in the Tenth Year of the reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the third of Great Britain...in the Province of North Carolina." Cut from a larger document, but complete in itself. Repaired vertical fold on front page, not affecting signature on verso. Boldly penned and easily read.
