Description

Spanish iron mace found in Rome, Georgia. Piece possibly originated with Hernando de Soto's expedition of the South East United States dating from 1539 to1541. "Morgenstern" or "Morningstar" maces, in use from the first half of the 16th century, were most likely used by these early explorers in their attack on Native Americans. Measures 3 by 3.5 inches and weighs 2.1 pounds. Comes with C.O.A. from The Florida Museum of Natural History. Good quality museum piece.
