We at CNY Book Auctions are pleased to be working with both The Boyce Thompson Institute for plant research, located here in Ithaca, New York on the Cornell University campus, and Mann Library, part of the Cornell University Library System. This particular auction lot is from the books that have been sent to us by Mann Library, not from the BTI library de-accession. Coincidentally, Mann has included many antique and scarce botany titles as well as approximately 1,200 cookbooks. Condition/Details:This scarce volume is a collection of recipes from the Hotel St. Francis in San Francisco. The book also includes two hundred model menus for breakfasts, luncheons, dinners, and suppers, which include some related food and beverage advertisements sprinkled through. The author also served as chef at Sherry’s and Waldorf in New York, Buffet de la Gare in Strasbourg, Alsace, and the Grand Hotel in Paris. Some age/wear to the outside of the volume, binding and hinges are intact, pages are clean with some toning.
