IMPORTANT BALTIMORE HEPPLEWHITE CARD TABLE, C. 1790. The demilune top with large conch shell inlay & lightwood stringing. The conforming frieze with lightwood inlay. The legs with paterae, lightwood stringing & bellflower inlay with contrasting lightwood and ebony cuffs. The underside of top with medial cross brace. A nearly identical example is illustrated in the landmark text/exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Art 1947, "Baltimore Furniture 1760-1810" plate # 14 Ht. 30" W. 35.75" D. 17.5" Provenance: The collection of the late Warren Barley, historic Mitchell Plantation c. 1780, La Plata, MD.
