A PAIR OF GEORGE V SILVER TORAH FINIALS BY MOSES SALKIND. London, 1920. Embossed with bands of flowers, fitted with lions and stags (mostly missing), with eagle finials and engraved stems. Inscribed: PRESENTED BY MRS. JANE ABELSON TO BISHOP STREET SYNAGOGUE IN LOVING MEMORY OF HER SON JONAH WITH PASSED AWAY JULY 14, 1917." 27 troy ounces. 15.5" tall. Some loses and damages. Jonah Abelson was a South African national who died at age 21 while serving as a private in the 7th Battalion of the south African Infantry. He is buried in Dar Es Salaam Cemetery. His mother, Mrs. Jane Abelson died in Manchester at the age of 89 in 1959. Formerly property from the Manchester Great, New and Central Synagogue of Great Britain
