Globe and Sundial Ivory Cane-English, 19th Century-Terrestrial globe cane accurately carved in scrimshaw technique with the continents and the oceans and their related appellations. The globe is hinged and opens to show on one side a sundial and on the other the inscription "GLOBUS TERRESTRIALIS". The ivory globe comes on a malacca shaft with a metal collar and a 4" white metal ferrule and is distinguished by a superb, luminous surface and great condition. Obvious marine ties make the expert believe that similar canes belonged to retired seamen.-H. 2" x 2", O.L. 32 ¼" $2,000-$3000
