Artist: GEORGES RIPART (1871-1933) Size: 31 3/4 x 46 3/4 in./80.5 x 118.6 cm Bachollet, Paris "Many breweries were founded centuries ago or carry the names of historical sites, places or persons: for the advertising designers, this is reason enough to dress the characters that appear in the posters in their respective historical costumes for the advertising campaigns" (Litfass-Bier, p. 100). Here, King Henry IV sits atop his famous white horse to promote an obscure southwestern French beer.
