Artist: JEAN CARLU (1900-1997) Size: 31 1/2 x 47 1/8 in./80 x 119.7 cm Imp. Courbet, Paris A famous brand of canned sardines, Amieux is advertised here in remarkably fresh Art Deco style. Around this time they also developed their famous slogan which relied on a pun to keep the brand name constant in the consumer's mind: "Toujours a mieux" (Always the best) can also be read as "Toujour Amieux" (Always Amieux). A rare Carlu design discovered after the publication of his catalogue raisonné.
