Fine Japanese hand carved ivory figure depicting a sage with wooden staff. He is wearing polychromed & gilted headdress with layered robe. In his left hand is a paddle fan and at his feet a stork. Signed to bottom. 19th century. Includes rond wooden base. Measures 10 3/8" height + 1 1/4" base height (26.3cm + 3.1cm). Total weight WITHOUT base 744 grams.
