Walker 89-Rank Digitally Sampled Theatre Organ

Sign In to see what this sold for

Walker Technical (Zionsville, Pennsylvania)

This extraordinary theatre organ was constructed in the 1990s with a custom four-manual Ken Crome console to replicate the large Wurlitzer Publix consoles of the 1920s, of which only four examples were built. As an electronic digitally sampled organ without pipes, the Walker recreates some of the finest pipe ranks in existence, with the sound of 80 ranks in theatre organ terms (or 89 if one counts the three IV-rank mixtures, as in a classic instrument), plus eight tuned percussion. The console also controls the Steinway D, the Mason & Hamlin BB grand pianos and the Deagan Piano-Vibraharp, which are being offered as separate lots in this auction. The 20,000-watt sound system has 484 loudspeakers, for an exceptionally powerful sound, even in a large facility like the main Milhous display room. 85x85x73 inches.
