Group of Photographs of Orchestras and String Musicians. Board mounted B&W photo of "Wassili Leps Symphony Orchestra, 1911." A fifty two piece group posing outdoors. Wassili Leps (1870–1942) was a Russian-born American composer and conductor. Born near Saint Petersburg, he came to the United States in 1894. He frequently conducted at Willow Grove Park near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 8 1/2"h. X 12"w. overall.; A large somewhat panoramic image of fifty eight member orchestra on stage. 7 3/4"h. X 19 3/4"w. B&W photo on a 14"h. X 22"w. gray cardboard back. Signed in lower right: "Gillery & Bacon, Phila."; Board mounted image of eight member stage band "Jeffersonians" in an F.O.E Hall, ca. 1930's. 10"h. X 12"w. overall.; Board mounted B&W photo of a family orchestra, note guitars. 10"h. X 12"w. overall.; Board mounted, sepia toned photo of a string ensemble in a parlor. Probably 1920's era, no details. 11"h. X 12 3/4"w.; An unmounted sepia photograph of seven piece ensemble, stamped verso; "Jos. Fejer & Orch." Also stamped: "Photograph & Press Bureau, Palace Theatre, New York City and dated in upper left "July 9, '23." 9 1/4"h. X 13 1/4"w.; Board mounted B&W photo of four men with instruments. Stamped verso: "Fort Williams, ME." 7"h. X 9"w. overall.; a studio card mounted solo image of a male violinist. 8 1/4"h. X 5"w. Condition: All images good. Board corners and edges bumped, one with repaired crack.
