A stage full of country music performers identified in lower right as: "WLS National Barn Dance Cast, October, 1944." with insets of additional performers. National Barn Dance, broadcast by WLS-AM in Chicago, Illinois starting in 1924, was one of the first American country music radio programs and a direct precursor of the Grand Ole Opry. 7 1/2"h. X 9 1/2"w.; A photo of Lula Belle and Scotty, regular Barn Dance performers. Would appear to be earlier in their career. 8"h. X 10"w.; An autographed photo signed: "Always, Wilma Lee." Born in Valley Head, West Virginia, Wilma Leary sang in her youth with her family's gospel music group, The Leary Family on WWVA. In 1939, Wilma married fiddler and vocalist Dale T. "Stoney" Cooper, and became Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper and the Clinch Mountain Clan." 8"h. X 10"w.; Autographed photo of two men with instruments. Signed: "Best Wishes, Chas. L. Bailey, WWVA" and "Danny Bailey." Both born in Happy Valley, Tenn. in 1916 and 1919 respectively and performed at the Grand 'OI Oprey as The Bailey Bros. and the Happy Valley Boys. 7 1/2"h. X 10"w.; A mauve and white printed image of an early Country Western Band, unknown. 6 3/4"h. X 8 1.2"w.; WHUM, The Voice of Reading" and "Reciprocity Club of Reading(PA.)" identify this on-stage radio broadcast with "H.H." musical band. 8"h. X 10"w. Condition: All good with bumps and cracks. Last punched for binder.
