Condition/Details: Bound in soft leather, this is a large collection of issues from a popular weekly religious periodical for the year 1849, published in New York and Utica. A publication for Universalists, which was founded on a basic underlying belief in eternal salvation for all souls, these issues from January to December include sermons, letters, discussions of opposition to Universalism, articles on revivals and missionaries, and more, with material on such notable Universalists as Rev. Hosea Ballou and others. The issues run from January through December, though it's possible there may be issues missing. The binding, which has been roughly sewn to the covers, is mostly intact with some issues partially detached. Some wear to the leather outside. The pages have significant wear and toning, with a few pages missing, including the first few pages of the first issue.
