Condition/Details:This is a very early and rare printing of the Ephemerides, covering the months of November and December, for 1796. The group of French-language volumes was "Présentant pour chacun des jours de l'année un tableau des événemens remarquables qui datent de ce même jour dans l'histoire de tous les siècles et de tous les pays, et commençant au 1 septembre 1796, pour finir au 1 septembre 1797"—translated, presenting for each day of the year a table of the remarkable events for each date in history of every century and every county, beginning Sept. 1, 1796, and ending Sept. 1, 1797. This is volume 2 of that chronicle. Although the Ephemerides continued updated printings into the early nineteenth century, this eighteenth-century edition is extremely rare. Bound in full leather with two spine labels intact, the book has wear to the edges and front gutter. The binding is sturdy and the pages have some foxing.
