Condition/Details:This fabulous set includes 34 books of a 25-volume work (with several volumes having multiple parts), plus an index. The set is a recent reprint, done by the National Historical Society, of the work that was originally published by the Government Printing Office in 1880. As its name suggests, the work is replete with specific information about the Civil War armies. The content is extensive, the subject matter is too exhaustive to list. Suffice to say that all significant operations are included, and most topics are discussed in multiple volumes covering reports and correspondence. This collection is lacking vols. 3, 7, 12 part II, 17, 19, 23, and 24. Each of the books, with the exception of one, is covered in clear mylar tape to protect against wear. A few of the volumes have been exposed to moisture and show some color bleeding to the pages and light surface mildew. The remaining books are in excellent condition, minimal wear outside, insides are excellent, owner's bookplate on each front endpaper.
