Condition/Details:This is a beautiful antique world atlas, with a focus on the United States. The maps are in full color and include several fold-outs, displaying each U.S. state with individual counties and towns, along with the continents and principal countries of the world. The atlas also includes illustrations of the solar system, flags of the nations, etc, in color. The second half of the volume contains statistics and information on the states, profusely illustrated with wonderful elaborate engravings. The large book is bound in leather with a gilt-embossed cover. The front board is detached and the spine is missing, binding is intact. The pages are clean with scattered wear; the fold-out map of New York and Pennsylvania is in two pieces, both present.
