Condition/Details: This is a wonderful antique philosophy text by James Harris (1709-1780), lord of the British treasury and secretary to George III’s queen, known for his work “Hermes, or a Philosophical Inquiry Concerning Universal Grammar.” The title page bears the date of 1775, when the work was first published, making this likely a first edition. The book has been professionally rebound in black cloth with new endpapers, and the title, author, and “1776” embossed on the spine. Solidly bound with some toning and spotting to the pages.
