Hermanus (Herman) Berserik (Dutch, 1921-2002)
Buizenpost/Schiphol, 1971 Identified on the artist's label affixed to the stretcher. Oil and tempera on canvas, 33 1/2 x 41 1/2 in. (85.1 x 105.4 cm), framed. Condition: Minor surface grime. Provenance: Sold to benefit the Temple Beth Israel and St. James Catholic Church, both of Danielson, Connecticut. Condition reportCondition: Horizontal line across canvas located about 9-3/4 inches down from the top edge, most likely from liquid, that does not penetrate the paint surface, and there is no sign of a flaw in the canvas on the reverse that might cause such a line. Minor canvas deformation at corners suggests that painting could benefit from keying out. Scattered small dents and abrasions. Subtle stretcher bar marks. Minor surface grime. Inscribed "2 mei 1971" in pencil on the stretcher bar. Any condition statement is given as a courtesy to a client, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact.
