Zhenshiny, idite v kooperatsiyu [Women, Join the Cooperatives], a poster by Ignaty Nivinsky (1881-1933). Published by VTsSPO, Moscow, 1918. 67 x 49.5 cm.
The composition and the deep, contrasting colors lend this poster great charm. An important Symbolist artist, Nivinsky was particularly interested in printmaking (he founded the Union of Engravers in 1918), but he also worked in other graphic genres, including poster production. Nivinsky had also gained much acclaim as an interior decorator of public buildings (including Lenin's Mausoleum, 1929-1930), and as a stage designer.
