Vypolnim Plan Kontractatsii [Let Us Meet the Plans for Utilizing Agricultural Machinery], a poster by Dmitry Babichenko (1901-1991). Published by OGIZ-IZOGIZ, Moscow -Leningrad, 1931. 70.8 x 50.5 cm.
br>When translated literally, poster’s slogan reads “Let Us Meet the Plans for Entering Contracts”. The State wanted to promote mechanized farming, but machinery was in short supply, and collective farms were too poor to afford a tractor of their own. The proposed solution was to set up a network of Machinery and Tractors Stations that would contract their services to local collective farms. The contracts system improved the utilization of equipment through sharing, and even the poorest farming collectives could now benefit from modern technology. Babichenko started his artistic career by publishing caricatures and producing political and film posters. His involvement with film studios led to a career change; he is now remembered as one of the first Soviet animators. Search extension words / key tags: Russian poster, Soviet propaganda.
