Pochyotnaya Gramota [Certificate of Merit] - an award bestowed jointly by the Commissariat of Finances and by the Trade Unions Council to collectives that had distinguished themselves in the 1932 State bonds placement campaign - designed by D. Pykhov. Produced for Finizdat by OGIZ-IZOGIZ, Moscow-Leningrad, 1932. 51.5 x 37.5 cm.
We were unable to uncover much information about the artist behind this poster-size certificate. A number of posters had appeared under D.Ya. Pykhov's name between 1935 and 1955, all on agricultural topics; he had also illustrated a number of agricultural and culinary books. Judging by this attractive photomontage design, further research into the artist's body of work may be merited. Search extension words / key tags: Russian poster, Soviet propaganda. A bit of legalese: any condition report is given as a courtesy to our clients, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or free from wear or tear, repairs, imperfections, or the effects of aging. Old paper items are naturally fragile, so some wear and tear, aging, and repairs should normally be expected. All items are offered as is. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
