JOSEPH IVES, 'TRIPLE DECK' MAHOGANY VENEER, MANTLE CLOCK, C1820, H 37", W 17", D 6":having a gilt painted eagle crest, painted wood face with Roman numerals on a gilt painted band flanked by gilt and black painted half round side columns; two key wind (with crank key), above a rectangular mirror flanked by gilt wood and tapered round columns. A glass framed door at the bottom has a colonial Hudson River scene painted on the glass which opens to a compartment to attach the lead and brass pendulum, weights and store key etc. Black & gold accents. Gilt ball feet. Includes additional clock hands, articles and drawings of movement and history of Joseph Ives and his clock business. Ives; 'strap brass' movement.
Condition reportmissing trim piece at the front lower right on base; bottom hinge needs a pin to re attach to case; shows age cracks to eagle crest, crazing to clock face and minor paint losses/chips and possibly gilt repainted, show scratches and abrasions
