Magnificent Rookwood Scenic Vellum vase by Kataro Shirayamadani. Decorated in 1912, this tall and impressive vessel shows off the artist's talent with a terrific scene of a wooded pond. Sunrise coloration in the sky and reflected in the water is soft while the detail of the trees, brush and background are very good. Marked with the Rookwood logo, XII, the shape number 1369B, the letter V for vellum and the artist's incised Japanese signature. There is a minor nick to the top rim that measures 1/8" and is difficult to discern. 15" tall by 8" wide.
