Rare silk on linen sampler wrought by Caroline Sawyer, Age 11, Henniker, New Hampshire, with ABC’s, dated August 24, 1815, with finely embroidered flowers, trees, and birds in the border and verse reading “As thus my hand with artful aim/Confirms the useful needles fame/So may my actions every act/Be aimed alone to mend my heart./ The time draws near that I must go/And bid adieu to things below/And if these line you chance to see/When I am gone remember me”. 21”x20”
