***Darcilio Lima (1944-1991) was born in poverty in Brazil. His talent and vision were recognised from an early age, and he was tutored in engraving by the Brazilian surrealist, Marcelo Grassmann. But flurries of fame and success, in Brazil, Europe and the United States in the late 1960s and early 1970s, were interspersed with periods of mental illness and isolation..
