William Hazlitt. The Life of Napoleon[and:] Louis Antoine Fauvelet de Bourrienne. Memoirs of Napoleon. [and:] Duchesse d'Arbantes. Memoirs of Madame Junot. New York: Anglo-American Publishing Co., [n.d., ca. 1895-1900]. The Malmaison Edition, one of only ten numbered copies (this being copy number 10). With a one-page letter signed by Major General Louis-Alexandre Berthier, Prince de Neuchatel (text of letter is secretarial, signature is that of Berthier). The letter (Munich, August 17, 1806) is addressed to the Inspector General of the Grand Army and concerns Health Officers and their compensation. Together, sixteen octavo volumes. Each volume illustrated with full-page plates or facsimiles, and a hand-colored frontispiece. Publisher's three-quarter blue levant morocco over marbled boards, spines tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, two raised bands, each with two burgundy morocco fleur-de-lys onlays. Top edge gilt, marbled endpapers. Some joints worn and starting, some wear and chipping to some spines and corners. Overall, very good. From the library of Circuit Court Judge E. Henry Lacombe, with his bookplate in each volume.
