Description Circa 1700. Basic shield made of wood, covered on outside with red leather. Beautifully overlaid in cutout brass designs, embellished with classic Scottish hearts, thistles, and roses. Further embellished with many brass tacks. Leather has numerous worm holes. Some small pieces of leather are missing, showing the wood underneath. The back is covered with the original dried and shrunken hide. Comes with two very early woven hemp arm grips. Overall, excellent condition for its age.
