C. Gumpf Kentucky Rifle.

Sign In to see what this sold for

Description School: Lancaster. Circa 1820 to 1830. Overall length: 57”. Caliber: .45. Barrel length: 41” (original). Octagonal barrel. Flintlock mechanism. Obvious re-conversion. Four-piece patchbox. Plain maple stock. No carvings. Two original inlays, one silver and one copper. This Kentucky rifle is an obvious “re-stock” (done in the period) using Gumpf’s earlier barrel trigger guard, butt plate, and lock. The patchbox, which has a standing eagle atop a shield as its salient feature is not that of Christopher Gumpf., but is period to the manufacture of this rifle. The early lock is an obvious re-conversion.
Condition (Good).
