CHINESE HAND-PAINTED PORCELAIN PLAQUE OF LOHAN

Hand painted by Wang Bu (1898-1968) in 1915, his style is influenced by Zhuxi Taoist. The painting is entitled "Buddha Fa", which encompasses everything.
Depicted Lohan Nakula (or Pakula) sitting on a cloud during his meditation, painted in coral red tones. He is considered to be one of Buddha's favorite disciples, Nakula's sphere of influence extended throughout India. According to tradition, he was formerly a warrior with incredible strength and resigned from fighting and killing to become a monk, finally attaining enlightenment through constant meditation. H: 14 1/4 in. (26.3cm) x L: 10 in. (25.4 cm)
