CHINESE CARVED IVORY INCENSE BURNER

From the private collection of a gentleman from California. Raised on three legs each one issuing from a beast's head, the globular jar has a scrolling band around the rim and narrow petals by the shoulder, the midsection carved with openwork dragon design encasing pierced puzzle inside, with imposing handles adorned with aprons supporting large loose rings. The equally imposing cover bears matching scrolling band around the rim and a coiled dragon on pedestal atop the cover. Signatures are found inside the burner, on the base of the burner, and on the base of the lid. H: 5 in. (12.7cm), excluding stand.
