A SEVEN-PIECE STOWELL AND GORHAM STERLING SILVER COFFEE AND TEA SERVICE
America, Rhode Island and Boston, 20th Century The set consisting of a cream pitcher, a covered sugar bowl, a waste bowl, a teapot, a coffee pot, a hot water pot on a stand with an oil holder and wick, and a tray; all monogrammed CW except the stand, all also with a band of parallel lines around the rim or foot; all the containers having hexagonal bodies and footed bases, the three spouted pots with hinged lids and handles with heat spacers; the oval tray with a shaped edge and two handles incorporated into the border; most pieces stamped on the underside with A.STOWELL & CO., STERLING, B9, and a superimposed R and W; the coffee and teapot additionally with 2 PINTS; the stand with STERLING only; the oil heater with a small lion, anchor, and G over STERLING over P; the tray with the same three little stamps over STERLING over A2816 over 24 IN over BIGELOW-KENNARD & CO.; total weight 272.6 oz (7,733.66 gr). Condition: The tray top with numerous shallow scratches and a few areas of surface loss. The remaining pieces in good condition, with a little tarnishing here and there and a dimple or two.
