A FRENCH BACCARAT AND LALIQUE TANTALUS SET WITH INLAID BIRD'S EYE MAPLE CASE
19th Century The elegant case, inlaid with a central mother-of-pearl and brass design in a marquetry frame, opens to reveal a fitted interior with the original four Baccarat clear glass decanters with stoppers and sixteen Lalique cordials, all etched with a grapevine encircling the upper part; the decanters etched with 34, 61, 73, and 88 inside the neck, their stoppers with matching numbers on the bottom; the removable two-tiered gilt-bronze frame with vine and floral detailing; with original key and locking mechanism. Condtion: The decanters and cordials in very good condition; the metal handle element slightly loose. The case with a tiny hole drilled partially into the front at lower proper right; a few small nicks on proper right side; one small area of surface loss on proper left side at upper back corner, two small areas of loss on back at both upper corners. case: 10 3/8 x 12 7/8 x 9 ½ inches (26.3 x 32.8 x 24.1 cm) Total twenty pieces plus case ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
