France, ca. 1850 The large mantel clock having two black patinated figures seated on top representing Justice holding her scales and with her arms around a young woman in neoclassical dress; the front and sides of the bronze doré clock casing lavishly decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves, floral and fruit bowers, and scrolling architectural elements; the circular clock face completely covered with small foliate scroll repoussé decoration, with blue Roman numerals on individual white enamel mounts, one labeled RAINGO À PARIS; numbered 1259 on back of young woman and clock case, also on inside back plate along with 8 and circular maker's stamp reading RAINGO FRÈRES PARIS; with pendulum and winding key. 23 ¼ x 21 ¾ x 8 ¾ inches (59.1 x 55.3 x 22.2 cm) ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
